Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology services the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour and offers both routine testing and specialised testing for referral laboratories throughout Australia.

About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an exciting, full-time opportunity for a Scientist to join the Centre Bench/Sendaways Department within their Bowen Hills laboratory. 

Rostered hours are 06:00 - 22:00 Monday to Friday. Participation in the Saturday and public holiday roster is required.

This is a high level troubleshooting role that involves detailed problem solving and requires the successful applicant to use their clinical knowledge to investigate and resolve recollections, amended reports, patient misidentifications and missing specimens

The successful applicant will be also required to facilitate the collection, transport and testing of precious samples and specimens for testing referred to other laboratories, including local, interstate and international laboratories.

About You

The successful applicant will be required to have a thorough knowledge of laboratory processes and excellent communication skills so that they can liaise with internal and external customers to provide information and advice, and to resolve issues. In addition, they will be able to demonstrate responsibility and accountability by taking ownership of problems and seeing them through to resolution.

In order to be successful, you must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Pathology laboratory scientific experience (preferably multi-disciplinary)
  • A commitment to the provision of quality customer service
  • The ability to manage workflow to prioritise clinically significant problems
  • The ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in high pressure situations
  • Excellent phone, communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to multitask and work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness and initiative
