Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is one of the largest pathology practices in Australia, providing comprehensive services to patients and doctors throughout Queensland and New South Wales, employing more than 2000 people.
Servicing the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour they offer both routine testing and specialised testing for referral laboratories throughout Australia.
Sullivan Nicolaides is currently looking for full-time Laboratory Scientists to join their team in Bowen Hills, as part of a 12 month contract.
Multiple opportunities are available, for both the day shift (with usual business hours) and evening shift (typically 3pm to 11pm) on weekdays. Shifts may be variable and could include occasional weekends as required.
Primarily working from the Cytogenetics Department, you will be responsible for a range of laboratory functions, including the analysis of cytogenetic specimens by G-banding, as well as providing intermittent assistance to the Molecular Pathology Department on COVID-19 testing if/as required
The successful candidates will have a tertiary degree in a relevant area of study, from a recognised tertiary institution. Previous experience with either cytogenetic or general laboratory work will be viewed favourably, however recently graduated scientists with no previous clinical laboratory experience are also encouraged to apply, with on the job training supplied.
Well-suited to someone enthusiastic and self-motivated, this role will require working with minimal supervision as part of a team environment. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills will be crucial, as will excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work accurately and efficiently.
Importantly, you will need the ability to remain focused on tasks for extended periods, whilst seated at a computer workstation and/or microscope, or whilst processing biological samples in a repetitive workflow.
